The Impact of the Tourism Sector on Economic Growth in Turkey

Tourism is a set of activities carried out by a person for the purpose of accommodation and travel from his/her place of residence to another place. This sector, which has an important place for our country and provides foreign currency flow, contributes to the growth and development of our country. The tourism sector is important compared to other sectors in terms of providing foreign currency inflow to the country and employment. For this reason, the relationship between return and economic growth in the tourism sector, which interacts with many sectors, has been investigated. The research was subjected to descriptive analysis, field articles were scanned, and theoretical and conceptual sections were included in detail. In addition, tourism revenues and GDP data for the quarter of 2003Q1-2023Q3 were obtained from the official website, Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), and tabulated. As a result of the study, it was concluded that tourism income in our country is related to economic growth and is important.
